Once again, with restrictions lifting slightly Auctioneer 4 Hire’s Duncan Brown was able to get out and about and back into the LIVE auction room with actual people in attendance to do what he does best!

We were delighted to be asked back to Sandown Racecourse in Esher, just outside of London for the Barons Classic Car Auctioneers British Heritage classic car auction. There was approximately 70 lots on offer on the day ranging from 70’s classic two stroke bikes to E Tyoe Jaguars and Ferrari’s.

One of the stars of the show was the Jaguar SS100 (Suffolk replica) which sold for around £47520 inc fees. It really was a stunning example of British craftsmanship with nice touches like wooden floors and many original parts.

Other stand out cars were the two Mini’s which proved ever popular, both making well over reserve. Both cars were presented lovely by their respective owners, one of which their late father had cherished since the early 1980’s.

Other unusual vehicles on offer were this stunning Porsche Tractor resplendent in gloss red having been extensively restored since being rescued from a vineyard in France and this fantastic VW T25 Campervan, one of the very last air cooled models produced by VW. This particular example had a great story behind it. It had been bought new by the famous for chocolate Cadbury’s family before being sold onto one of their employees later in it’s life. It was in superb order and still with all it’s original Richard Holdsworth conversion camping equipment.

And this one can’t go without a mention, in fact, it should come with a sunglasses warning! One of one, was this amazing Audi 2.8i Convertible Final Edition in bright yellow with matching factory trim! It was originally a special order car for Audi UK themselves and was not an option for a member of the public at the time. With only 12k miles from new the colour (both inside and out!) really did pop!

All in all, the day was a great success with bids spread evenly across all mediums including live in the room, online via Easylive and via the telephones. It was fantastic to get back doing what we as freelance contract auctioneers do best – conduct live auctions to live people! Long may it continue.
